The school had its humble beginning in June 1983 in the spacious ground in front of the Vishnu temple at Govindamangalam with 27 students, one teacher and an ayah. An additional teacher was appointed in 1984 and the UKG class was also started. As it grew in size, it was shifted to Naruvamoodu. Four acres of land was purchased in the early nineties and the school was shifted to its new location in 1995, with a small building and additional sheds constructed to accommodate the classes, as the number of students grew rapidly. We have sailed a long journey and has grown in strength and stature keeping the flames of Indian spirit burning in the children. At present we have reached the higher secondary level with a total number of 1067 students and 74 staff. We had upgraded our infrastructure with 14 more classrooms and 14 lavatories with the yearly upgradation of science labs, computer lab and library.Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda inaugurated the new block on October 24th 2011.
Our system of education as you know is a blend of theory and practice in the right proportion to arrive at a comprehensive curriculum. To cater the need of the hour, besides academic excellence, the school is committed in inculcating in all its students,the Cinmaya Vision Programme which is a combination of four varied aspects like Integrated development, Indian culture, Patriotism and universal outlook.
Annual Report 2013-14
My humble pranams at the lotus feet of PujyaGurudev Swami Chinmayananda.With a genuine sense of pride, pleasure and satisfication. I would like to present the report of curricular and extra-curricular activities of our school during the academic year 2013-14.
It is with heavy heart we mourn for the sudden demise of our beloved Prof.T K SUnnithan Sir who was our former principal and AAC. We feel bereft as though we have lost a beloved master. We express our heartfelt condolence to his family.
June 3 marked the beginning of another challenging yet joyful academic year Classes for std X and XII commenced on May 8th. Our students had made an excellent performance in class X CBSE board examination held on March 2013 securing 100% pass. Out of 73 students who appeared for the exam 55 have secured about 8 grade points and nine students secured A1 in all subjects with the overall grade point of 10. In std XII Anandu A was the top scorer with 90% marks. In this occasion I would like to extend my hearty congratulations to all the Stake holders for their success.
From humble beginning we have successfully completed 31 years of glory. The school has witnessed the growth as strength of 1144 students from LKG to standard XII. At present school has 28 divisions and adequate infrastructure.
We have a committed band of 53 teaching staff and 22 non-teaching staff. In addition to this we have a qualified librarian, physical training instructor, music, dance and art teachers. This year blessed to organize the Chinmaya Birth Centenary Celebration. Students performed a ballet on GuruParampara at Mahalekshmi auditorium which was much appreciated by the public
For the smooth functioning in academics and to achieve the set educational standards, head of the departments were selected. An academic council meeting and subject council meeting are held monthly to strengthen the academic activities of the vidyalaya. Regular assessments, class tests and terminal examinations help to identify the weak spots of a child and remedial classes were arranged for the students.
To discuss the academic matters and progress of students class wise Parents meeting also held.
“Children are not vessels to be filled but lamps to be lit “. This year AkhilMenon of XI was selected as head boy and Parvathy of XH as head girl. These lamps will shoulder the responsibility and light other lamps.
Students and staff of our vidyalaya have been grouped into four houses- Vyasa, Sankara ,Tapovan and Chinmaya.
Comprehensive Learner Oriented Adaptive PreschoolCurriculum has been following in our KG section since 2005. It is really a joyous time when our tinytots are taken out for nature walk and field trips. To develop the habit of eating healthy food vegetable day, fruits day were organized in K G Section. Grand Parent’s day was celebrated on December 12th.
Technology has a potential in improving the quality of teaching. Use of smart rooms makes learning more enriching. This year two more smart rooms are added in addition to six with Smart Assessment System.
To enhance the communication skill of the students the ILM faculty played a vital role. Some of the activities such asInformation Corner, English March, Treasure Hunt, Time on the Mike and SEC (Students English Council), indeed brought a remarkable change.
This year we have appointed a wellness teacher who interacts with students once a week. We are guided by Chinmaya vision programme which makes our school a real school with a difference. We provide value based education imbibing our rich cultural heritage and ethos through Balavihar classes CHYK classes.We also chant Bhagavat Gita every day before prayer.
Three studentsHarisree S A of standard X,IthihasKhasak of standard XI and Kalidas S R of standard XI attended a camp at CIF on TITI anda leadership training at Chinmaya Vibhoothi at Kolwan.
To sharpen the intellectual ability various scholarship exams like SahodayaScholorship, Science Olympiad and Guru Sishya exams were conducted. The Club Activities were inaugurated by K.B.Sanjay faculty in Travancore Natural History Society. It is noteworthy to mention the credible activities of Nature club, Science club, Maths club,SS club, ICT club, Literary club which go a long way in promoting and nurturing the potential of our students.
Children participated in Art and Literary Festival by SouthZoneSahodaya Complex. Bharath S Kumar of standard of VI bagged first prize andKrishnapriya third prize in light music.
We are very proud to say that Vaishnav S R secured first prize in the Cartoon competition organized by C V Kollam.
C V P gives much importance to physical development of a child. To create awareness on the need to prevent diseases like Dengue fever, a seminar was arranged by the Chief Medical Officer, Thannivila.To imparts health education, and First aid class was arranged by Sri.Vinayakumar.This year we started Yoga class after school hours along with Karate class. Once again our students proved their mettle by participating in Good Will Karate Championship 2013.Abhijit was awarded a Silver medal and Akhil a Bronze medal. Food festivalwas conducted on December 17.Teaching and non-teaching staffs prepared food items and it was really a delicious event of the year. Health card is maintained from L K G to standard IV.
Our students also had shown their outstanding performance in Chin ITcompetition and Daksha.
Sports day was organized at Machel stadium. Sri.Madhusoodanan Nair, Sub Inspector of Police, Naruvamoodu inaugurated the sports meet. Children actively participated in all the events with exuberant vigor and enthusiasm.In the art and science exhibition, students showcased their skills. A Space room was arranged by plus one student washighly informative and it enabled us to watch the night sky.
Reading week was celebrated by organizing Essay Writing, Elocution Competition etc.
This year CCMT Scholarship was received by Jayasree M S and Indrajith.
To instill the qualities of compassion and empathy students shared their views by organizing a PowerPoint presentation on Child Labour, Population Day and aftermath of Utharakhandtragedy. They also collected Rs. 10000/- and was handed over to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. In connection with 150thbirth Centenary of Swami Vivekananda, a quiz competition highlighting the life history of Swami Vivekananda and a PowerPoint Presentation wereorganized by the students of class IX.
Teachers of our Vidyalaya attended various training programmes organized by C B S E and variouspublishers to keep pace with the modern trends in teaching learning process. A leadership clinic was arranged for Principals, vice principals and HODs by SekharanKutty in the C E C C Trust, Manacaud.Smt.Renjusha K L and GayathriS attended a seven day workshop GanitaGoshtion Mathematics organized by CCMT ed. cell at Coimbatore. As per the guidelines from C B S E, the progress made by the learner throughout the year was well documented and arranged in the C C E room. This year, a mentoring team from Jyothis Central School visited our school and the feedback received was excellent. The Teacher’s day was celebrated and student teachers engaged the classes effectively and they were monitored by a panel of teachers.
Importance of all solemn occasions was brought aliveduring Seva day, Sadhana day.Gurupoornima was observed in the presence ofSwaminiSamhitananda .The month of Karkkidakawas celebrated as Ramayana month.Mathrupooja was conducted on Vijayadasami day under theguidence of YajnaChaithanya. Children offered Pooja to their mothers as a token of their love and respect.Guruji’s birthday, Gita day and TapovanJayanthy was observed with much reverence.A special Sanskrit assembly was organized on Sanskrit Day.
Inter Chinmaya Gita Chanting Competition was held at Chinmaya Vidyalayavazhuthacaud. Gowri S (UKG) got first prize, Nandana P R (IV H) got second prize, Bharath S Kumar(VI C) secured second prize and AmrithaUdayan(VIII C) got second prize.
We never missed an opportunity to inculcate patriotism in young minds. Independence Day, Childrens Day and Gandhi Jayandhiwas celebrated with much pride.
Two units of 64 Scouts and 25 Guides function actively in our Vidyalaya under the guidance of Sri. Hari Kumar, Smt. Chithra J and Smt. SreejaGopal. Cub and Bulbul units are equally active under the guidance of Smt. SindhuS Nair. They cleaned the premises of Primary health centre ,Thannivila as a part of Sanitation Promotion. Investiture ceremony was conducted on December 16th .During this academic year four students got ThriteeyaSopan.
To revive the glories of Kerala the annual quiz Keraleeyamhosted by Dr.AjayapuramJyothish Kumar was conducted. About 32 teams from various schools around our neighbourhood participated Chinmaya VidyalayaVazhuthakkad bagged the ever rolling trophy.
Youth Festival was conducted on .School Level Competitions were held in Cultural, Spiritual and Literary items which witnessed enthused participation of students.
Hindi Day was observed by conducting a special assembly.
In connection with an environmental day, exhibition on biodiversity of Western Ghats was arranged.
Centre for environment and development has accepted our project proposal for biodiversity conservation through preservation of medicinal plants in our locality. All the staff contributed one day salary to the renovation of Govindamangalam Temple.
Pleasure trip to Neyyar Dam, Happyland and Vega Land was organized for the students from I to XII.
An Adolescent Empowerment Programme was conducted by Harikumar for XI and XII.Manuscript Magazine for all subjects with the help of student editors are prepared. A traffic awareness programme by C I AnilkumarNeyyattinkara helped the students to observe the road safety rules. A seminar on Anti-narcotic Day was conducted by Prof. Giftlin.ChinmayamAlumini Association met on December 26th. We are proud to say that Nithin J S our former alumini .
We all pay our homage to master Aromal of stdVIII who met an untimely death on 21st August. May his soul rest in peace. We stand together to express our gratitude to the management, mission members, parents and all well-wishers whose unparallel support and guidance which inspired us to move on. Once again we invoke the blessings of Almighty and Guruparampara.
